Last week your were tasked with adding some daily positive self talk to your week! I hope you tried this and found it to be a positive way to start your morning. Did you notice when you were giving others compliments that you too felt good! Some times it takes a little extra effort to compliment a complete strangers but if you did, you probably made that persons day (an added benefit). The second task was adding exercise to your week based on your current physical activity level! If you successfully did these two things I hope you will continue doing them this week as well! If you were not able to do both then do them tomorrow, everyday is a new beginning!
One of the biggest reasons we can feel overloaded is it can be hard to say, "NO" at times. Whether you have a full time job or are a stay at home mom (another form of a full time job...minus a physical pay check lol) there are usually a lot of demands for your time. This week I want you to look at your schedule and ask yourself if the task being requested of you will meet the following criteria:
Do I have time to do this?
Does this fit with my goals or objectives?
If the answer to the questions above are NO then you need to decline the task. If it is a friend who is requesting your help it's still okay to say, No however offer to help another time or suggest another person who may be able to accommodate the task. Saying NO to friends and family can be hard but if you're already overloaded you should not feel guilty.
The second task is an easy one. This week think about one of your favorite people. How long has it been since you just spent time with him or her? Call or text your friend and schedule some time to do something you both would enjoy doing! This can be anything from an hour lunch meet up to a whole day of fun! Remember we absolutely have to make time for the people who are important to us....otherwise as time passes they might not even know they are important!
We all have super busy lives but one thing I know to be true, once you find value in something you make time for it! If your a fan of "Game of Thrones" like I am then you probably make time to watch it at its scheduled time or record it for later. So why do we say we do not have time for the other more important things i.e. exercise, socializing, meal planning? The truth is, it hasn't become important enough...yet! It is very unfortunate that many people do not start taking their health seriously until they start having health problems. My hope is that you will find encouragement and motivation to make these small changes this week...for your health!
